Three injured in N1 Bellville collision

Three people sustained injuries this morning following a two vehicle collision on the N1 highway in Bellville.

The cause of the collision is unclear at this stage, but a Nissan Champ bakkie had collided into the rear of a Renault minivan. There were three occupants in the bakkie at the time of the collision namely an elderly male and female as well as a six year old girl.

ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene to find that both of the adult occupants in the vehicle had sustained only minor injuries ranging from suspected back and neck injuries to various scrapes and bruises. The six year old girl however had sustained more serious injuries in the form of a broken leg as well as suspected back and neck injuries.

The child was immobilised to spinal equipment and given medication for pain. All the patients received treatment at the scene before being transported to hospital in various ambulances.

Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the collision further.
