[HILLCREST, KZN – 18 NOVEMBER 2012 AT 13H00]
Fourteen people have been injured after the taxi they were travelling in over turned and rolled on the M13 Pietermaritzburg bound just past the Hillcrest off ramp this afternoon.
ER24 and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the taxi back on its wheels but in the middle of the road. Patients were found strewn across the highway. Paramedics assessed the patients and found four patients had suspected neck and back injuries and suspected broken bones. The remaining ten patients had general body pains and minor cuts. They were stabilised on scene and were transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care.
It is believed that the driver had some sort of mechanical problem causing him to lose control of the vehicle and roll. The local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
