Two Men Burnt After Explosion On A Farm

[SUNDRA, JHB EAST – 28 NOVEMBER 2012 AT 18H00]

One man is in a critical condition and another man is in a serious condition after sustaining burns to their bodies after an alleged electric box exploded on a poultry farm in Sundra about 30km outside of Benoni in the direction of Witbank this evening.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the two injured men being treated by fellow colleagues at the farm. Paramedics took over the treatment and found the two men both in their twenties had sustained burns to their bodies. The one patient who was the worst off had sustained burns to his hands, chest, neck, back and face. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on him while being treated for his injuries. The other patient had sustained burns to his face and hands. Both patients were stabilised on scene and transported to Glynnwood Hospital for further medical care.

It is believed that the two men were working on the Electric box when the incident occurred. What caused the explosion is unclear at the moment.
