Six people were injured, three seriously so, after a head-on collision in Umhlangane Road near the Avoca Road intersection in Durban this morning. Reports from the scene are that the sixty-five-year old male was taking three children to school when the accident happened.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the elderly man still trapped in the mangled wreckage of his car. While firemen used the Jaws of Life to free that injured male, medics clambered into the vehicle to stabilize the patients.
After the injured were stabelised on scene, medics transported them to various hospitals in the area for the care that they required.
