Off Duty Policeman Shot After Attempted Hijacking In Pinetown

A off duty policeman has sustained a gunshot wound to the leg after an attempted hijacking was foiled by the policeman on Stapleton Road near to the M13 on ramp in Pinetown this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the policeman walking around on the scene and informed the paramedics that he had been shot in the leg. Paramedics assessed the wound and dressed it to stop the bleeding. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient to help with the pain. Once stabilised on scene, the patient was transported to Hillcrest Private Hospital for further medical care in a stable condition.

It is believed that the patient was following fellow friends home when the incident took place underneath the bridge. The circumstances around the shooting and attempted hijacking will be investigated by the local authorities that were on the scene.
