Pedestrian dies in Woodstock, and AER24 evacuates a patient from Tulbagh

Paramedics from various services and the WC Fire and Rescue team tried their best to save the life of a man in his 30’s, after he was allegedly knocked down by a cement truck on Main road in Woodstock this afternoon.

The man appears to have been trying to cross the road when he was knocked down. Paramedics from the Western Cape Department of Health, and Life Paramedic arrived on scene and initiated treatment on the critically injured man. His condition was deemed critical, and they had to start resuscitation efforts a short while after the got to scene.

With assistance from ER24 paramedics, they desperately tried to save his life, but nothing they did improved his condition and he was later declared dead on scene.

In an earlier accident involving a Hyundai truck. Eight people were injured, three critically, when the truck overturned on the R44 near Tulbagh.

It is not clear as to what took place on the scene, but the WC DoH paramedics required the assistance of AER24 medical helicopter to evacuate one of the critically injured men.

Due to strong winds in the area, the 35 year old man with head and chest injuries was brought to Voelvlei, and then airlifted from there to Groote Schuur Hospital.

The remaining patients were treated and transported to hospital by the WC DoH paramedics.
