Umhlanga Rocks Drive Head On Collision Leaves 3 Injured

Crisis Medical paramedics responded to a serious accident on Umhlanga Rocks Drive at 13:50 today.

On arrival, paramedics found that a white Audi sedan, a delivery bakkie, a Peugeot sedan and a motorbike spread across the road. Emergency personnel assessed the vehicles and found that the two passengers of the bakkie were critically injured and at the time of writing were still trapped in the vehicle while eThekwini Fire & Rescue worked to free the men from their crumpled vehicle. A man was seriously injured when he was thrown from his bike during the collision. He was stabilised and fully immobilised on scene before being transported by Crisis Medical Ambulance to a local hospital for further medical care.

The driver of the Audi was not injured in the collision.

From on scene reports, it is believed that the Audi sedan lost control coming down Umhlanga Rocks Drive in a northerly direction before losing control at Village Way and then colliding with the other vehicles and motorbike.

Traffic was seriously affected as Umhlanga Rocks Drive was closed from Village Way to Somerset Drive to allow rescue personnel to work.
