A woman believed to have been between the ages of 50 and 60 has sadly been killed this afternoon on the N2 in Somerset West.
The woman was travelling on her bicycle when at around 16:10 a truck crashed into her near the Lourens River exit. The impact caused the woman to be flung from the bicycle and into a second truck, which left her with such extensive injuries that there was no more paramedics could do to save her life and she was later declared dead on scene.
The local police will conduct the necessary investigations into the cause of this fatal crash.
