17 year old shot in the foot in Roodepoort

A 17 year old young man is believed to have been walking along the road when he suddenly collapsed with excessive pain in his foot. The paramedics were called to the scene on Waxberry Avenue near Bluegrass street in Weltevreden Park where the caller explained that the patient may have simply hurt his foot which caused him to collapse.

The paramedics arrived on the scene and found a wound to his foot that was bleeding excessively, so they treated his injury and transported him to the nearby hospital. The young man was handed over to the casualty staff in a stable condition.

Later on, the paramedics heard back from the hospital after they had done X-rays on the patient’s foot. It appears that the injury was as a result of a gun shot wound, and it is at this time not clear as to what took place leading to the incident. Local police took over the case and will conduct necessary investigations.
