Six people were injured in a snarl-up on the N2 onramp to Umgeni Road this afternoon at 13h00. Reports indicate that a car carrier was taking the off- ramp to Umgeni Road from the N2, lost control, and slammed into five vehicles.
Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue officer arrived at the scene to find the roadway obstructed with wreckages, a rear passenger of a vehicle was still trapped in the twisted frame of the car with serious injuries. Five other people were found at the side of the road with minor injuries.
The Netcare rescue officer used the Jaws of Life to free the injured while paramedics worked fervently to stabilize the patients before transporting them to various hospitals for the care that they required.
