Woman suffers medical episode causing accident

At around 18:30 last night, a woman and her daughter were travelling on the N3 from the Eastern Cape through Pietermaritzburg when the woman in her 50’s suddenly suffered a medical episode and the vehicle then left the road and rolled near the Lion Park exit.

The woman was found by paramedics slumped over in the cabin of the Opel Corsa bakkie, and she was not reacting to external stimuli. The woman appeared to have fortunately not suffered any physical injury but she required treatment for her medical condition. The Advanced Life Support paramedic took over her treatment and she was then transported by ambulance to the St. Anne’s hospital for further care.

The woman’s daughter had also luckily not been physically injured in the incident.
