A stationary bakkie and sedan were parked at the side of the N2 highway in the emergency lane when a truck collided into them. It is believed that the bakkie had broken down, and the occupant of the sedan had stopped to assist and the two occupants of the bakkie and driver of the sedan had been standing at the side of the road when the truck hit.

The construction truck was heading over the M7 bridge on the N2 South when the collision took place. Upon impact, two of the three men were flung into the air and over the roadside barrier, leaving them with multiple and extensive injuries. Sadly, due to the severity of the injuries the two men in their 30’s had sustained, they did not survive and they were both pronounced dead by paramedics.

The third man as the driver of the truck suffered minor and moderate injuries and they both received treatment on scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

The cause of the fatal collision is under investigation by local authorities to determine what took place leading to the loss of the two men’s lives.
