Early morning taxi accidents leave scores injured at Field Street in Durban

Rescue Care paramedics were kept extremely busy this morning with two separate taxi accidents in Durban.

Just after 6am paramedics were called to the corners of Field Street and Queen Street for a taxi that had collided with a bus. Paramedics arrived to find that thirteen people had sustained various injuries. More resources were called to assist with the number of patients injured. Once the patients were stabilized on the scene they were all transported by various ambulances to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required.

Shortly before 7am yet again Rescue Care paramedics were called to another taxi accident on Nandi Drive bridge. On arrival paramedics found a total of fifteen people had sustained various injuries. A total of four people had sustained serious injuries. A medical aero medical helicopter was called in to assist in transporting a critically injured patient. Multiple ambulances were used to transport the seriously injured passengers to various hospitals for the further care that they needed.

Traffic was severely affected on both scenes as paramedics worked to clear the scenes.

It is unclear what caused both the collisions however SAPS is investigating the circumstances around the incidents.
