A young man in his 20’s has lost his life following a collision that took place on the N2 near Sir Lowry’s Pass direction Grabouw last night.
At around 23:00, the young man’s light motor vehicle and a truck collided head on, where the force of impact was so severe that the vehicle appeared ripped apart. Paramedics who arrived on scene explained that when they got there, they saw that the engine of the car lay on one side of the road and the rest of the car on the other. The young man had been ejected from the vehicle and his remains lay a short distance away from where the wreck had come to rest.
Initial assessments on the man revealed that he had suffered multiple and traumatic injuries and he had sadly not survived. They had no other option but to declare the young man dead.
The occupants of the truck were not injured in the collision.
Local police are continuing their investigations into the cause of this fatal collision and the necessary details leading up to what took place.
