Just after 09h30 this morning KZN Emergency Medical Services and local emergency services in the area, responded to a report of a truck accident on the N2 between the Empangeni area and the Mtunzini tollgate, on the North Coast of KZN.
When paramedics arrived on scene they discovered that a truck had overturned, went off the road and slid down an embankment, on its side, before coming to stop against some trees. There were two occupants in the truck as the time of the accident.
Paramedics who had responded to the accident, found that both the occupants had sustained critical injuries. The patients, who both required urgent medical intervention, were treated on scene before being transported to Ngwelezane hospital by KZN EMS and a local private ambulance service for continued medical care.
The cause of the accident and preceding events are subject to police investigation and comment.
