Fifteen people injured in minibus accident

Earlier this afternoon KZN Emergency Medical Services from the Port Shepstone and Umzinto bases, together with local emergency services, responded to a report of an accident on the N2 north bound in the Mtwhalume area on the KZN south coast.

When paramedics arrived on scene they meet the RTI and Police who had already secured the scene and cordoned of the slow lane where the accident had occurred. There was one mini bus involved in the accident.

The paramedics, who were also joined by paramedics from a local private ambulance service, immediately set out to triage then treat the 15 injured patients, who had serious and minor injuries.

The patients were then transported to GJ Crookes and Port Shepstone hospitals for further care.

The cause and related details regarding the accident are subject to police investigation and comment.
