Two people had to be rescued by off duty voluntary life guards at the Amanzimtoti Main beach tonight at around 17h00. Reports indicate that the men went swimming in very turbulent water and were pulled out to sea.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene as the life guards pulled the bathers onto the beach. After they were examined it was found that one man had serious near drowning symptoms while the other one was just exhausted.
After the man was stabilised on scene they transported him to a local hospital for the care that he required.
