Germiston intersection collision leaves two dead – 33 injured

Two people died and thirty five others were injured after two taxis and two cars collided at the intersection of Black Reef Road and Grey Ave Dinwiddie, Germiston this evening at around 20h28. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived and found accident debris and wreckages scattered over a large area with some of the people still trapped in the twisted metal. After triaging the injured they found that two men tragically died due to the extensive injuries that they sustained, six people were critically injured and twenty seven others sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor.

After all the injured were stabilised at the scene paramedics airlifted a critically injured female to a specialized facility for further care. The remainder of the patients was transported by ambulance to various hospitals for the care that they required.
