Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services, have responded to a house in the Quarry Heights area of Durban in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Where there had been a report of a wall that had collapsed.

When the first paramedic team arrived on the scene they was shocked to discover that six children (age between about 6&9years old) and an adult had been injured when a wall and part of an embankment from behind the wall, of a house that was being constructed, collapsed onto them

Two children were still stuck in the ruble! The paramedics called for assistance from the fire department and for more ambulances to be dispatched to the scene. Using just their hands the two paramedics and community members, started to remove the ruble and soil from on top of the children, who they fortunately managed to free from the ruble.

The responding ambulances started arrive on scene and together the paramedics treated the various traumatic injures the children had sustained from the falling ruble.

After the children had been stabilized they were transported to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, by the paramedics from KZN EMS for further medical care.

The cause of the wall collapsing is not known at this stage and will be investigated by authorities.
