Cape Mountain accident leaves female injured

A female in her forties was seriously injured after her and a group of friends hiked up the Lions Head mountains in Cape Town this morning at around 10h00. Reports indicate that the group was about two thirds up the mountain when she was injured.

Netcare 911 paramedics was called to the scene and had to hike about two kilometres up the mountain with all their equipment to stabilise the injured female. After she was treated paramedics had to use the A M S rescue helicopter to airlift her down the mountain to the parking lot where an ambulance was standing by.

The patient was then loaded into the Netcare 911 ambulance and transported to a nearby hospital for the specialised care that she required.
