A man in his 30s was knocked down by a 10-ton delivery truck along New Promosa Road near Potchefstroom this morning.
ER24 paramedics arrived on scene where the critically injured cyclist lay on the road. He sustained multiple severe fractures from the impact of the truck.
The patient was treated on scene after which an ER24 helicopter airlifted him from the scene and took him to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital for urgent medical care.
The exact circumstances of this incident are unclear but paramedics were told that the truck and cyclist were moving abreast with one another when the collision occurred.
Local authorities are investigating the collision.
