Soshonguve head-on collision leaves one dead two injured

One man died while two others were injured, one critically so, in a head-on collision along Bushveldt Road in Winterveld, Soshonguve late last night. Exact detail to the cause of the accident is still speculative, however a Mercedes and a VW Polo collided head on after an errant party crossed into oncoming traffic.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found some of the injured still trapped in the wreckages of the vehicles. After triaging they found that the driver of the Polo tragically died on scene due to the extensive injuries that he sustained, the driver of the Mercedes was heavily entrapped in the twisted metal of the vehicle, while another person sustained serious injuries.

Firemen worked for more than an hour to free the critically injured man using the Jaws of Life, while paramedics had to clamber into the wreckage to stabilise him. After the patient was skilfully immobilised and stabilised they removed him from the vehicle and airlifted him to hospital for the specialised care that he required. The seriously injured patient was treated at the scene and then transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment.
