A 60-year-old man was killed in a house fire in Birchleigh, Kempton Park this afternoon.
Paramedics arrived on scene where fire department personnel were extinguishing the burning house and discovered that the man had been burned beyond recognition.
His mother (84) told paramedics that he managed to assist her and their grandson (6) to exit the house before the roof collapsed on him and he was burned.
The exact circumstances that led to the collision are unclear but investigations are underway.
