Four people were injured after a heavy goods vehicle ploughed through nine vehicles on the M4 near La Mercy, in Kwa-Zulu Natal this afternoon.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived on scene and found both directions of the M4 obstructed with vehicles following the accident.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
Four injured people were assessed and treated on scene before they were transported to hospital for further medical care.
The traffic is still severely affected as the recovery process of all the vehicles will take some time.
