Mans lucky escape from train collision

A 70-year-old man sustained moderate injuries after a train collided with his bakkie on a dual crossing near Church Street in Hamilton, Bloemfontein.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found two badly damaged vehicles stationed on the railway tracks.

On assessment, paramedics discovered that one man lying in his vehicle had sustained moderate injuries.

Paramedics carefully removed the patient from his vehicle and began their treatment. Once treated, he was transported to Rosepark Hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the second vehicle fortunately did not sustain any injuries.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
