A 53-year-old woman was left critically injured after she was hit by a taxi this morning on Isando Road in Isando.
ER24 paramedics responded through the early morning traffic and arrived on scene to find the patient lying in a pool of blood next to the taxi.
A group of occupants from the taxi stood around on scene watching as paramedics began their assessment of the patient.
On assessment, paramedics discovered that the patient had sustained severe injuries and fractures to her legs and head.
Advanced life support was provided to the patient to stabilize her vital signs before she was transported by the AER24 Helicopter to Johannesburg General Hospital for urgent treatment.
It is believe that the woman had trapped beneath the vehicle after she was struck crossing the road. The taxi was moved prior to the arrival of ER24 paramedics.
Local authorities were on scene to investigate further.
