A man was killed last night after he was electrocuted by exposed wires in a veld in Pietermaritzburg.
ER24 paramedics, as well as fire services, arrived on scene and found a young man who had said that his friend lay far in the veld and was not moving.
ER24 paramedics treated the man for his minor burn injuries while fire services went to retrieve the body due to the scene being unsafe.
Once the body was retrieve, paramedics discovered that the man had already succumbed to his severe injuries.
The injured man was treated and transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The man later told authorities that they were walking in the veld and apparently had not noticed the exposed wire on the ground.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
