Three people were injured in a head-on collision along the R102 opposite the Umgababa railway station this evening. Exact detail to the cause of the accident is still speculative and will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911, provincial paramedics and the fire department arrived at the scene and found accident debris and the crumpled remains of the vehicles scattered over a large are, some of the injured were still trapped in the twisted frames of the vehicles. After triaging the wounded medics established that a female sustained critical injuries while the two men were seriously injured.
After the injured were extricated and stabilised at the scene, paramedics transported them to various hospitals for the care that they required.
