An elderly holiday maker from Mpumalanga has tragically drowned in Umdloti this afternoon. A report from the scene indicate that the man in his sixties was fishing from the rocks when he slipped and fell into the surf, life guards swam around and managed to get to the man when he reached back line.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the life guards had pulled the man from the surf and had started CPR. Paramedics started with advanced life support resuscitation and continued for some time. Tragically despite their fervent effort the patient was declared dead at the scene .
