Man injured, weapons seized and arrest made after altercation at taxi rank in KZN

At 08:00 this morning a male person was arrested for allegedly firing shots in the vicinity of the taxi rank. Earlier there was an incident where there was an altercation amongst some persons at the taxi rank and one person came to the police and reported that he was hit over the head with a knob kierie whilst he was amidst a group of people.

He was treated by paramedics. Whilst Cst Khetho Mqadi from Port Shepstone SAPS was at the taxi rank on duty, he heard shots being fired and then saw a man running.

He intercepted him and found the .38 revolver on his waist. There were some rounds in the chamber. The man was arrested and taken to the police station. Port Shepstone police, TRT, POP and K9 unit are monitoring the situation.

No cases have yet been opened and investigations into the matter are being conducted. Cluster Commander Port Shepstone , Major General Thembi Ndlovu and Station Commander, Brigadier Agnes Nxamagele are present at the taxi rank with their members on the ground.
