Continental’s ContiPremiumContact 5 among top performers in German tyre test

Continental’s ContiPremiumContact 5 has earned top-level “highly recommended” status and posted the best results for dry handling and dry braking in an independent summer tyre test in Germany.

The comprehensive shoot-out was conducted by the German GTÜ (Gesellschaft für Technische Überwachung mbH), German ACE (Automobil Club Europa) and ARBÖ (Auto-, Motor- und Radfahrerbund Österreich), using a Peugeot 308 on the popular 205/55 R16 91 H/V tyre size.

The test was conducted in cooperation with Goodyear in Mireval, France. It comprised a wide range of evaluations, including dry handling and braking, wet handling and braking, aquaplaning, rolling resistance and noise level measurements. Pricing and value for money were also factored into the final scores.

The ContiPremiumContact 5 scored the best overall results in the dry tests, with top marks in dry handling and dry braking. It was consistently among the top performers across the full range of tests, including wet handling and braking, aquaplaning, as well as lane-change manoeuvres in the wet.

The tyre’s overall score of 152 points out of a possible 190 placed it second – a mere single point behind the winner. Accordingly, it earned the GTÜ “Highly Recommended” status reserved for the top performers.

The ContiPremiumContact is an all-round premium tyre for vehicles in the compact, mid and full-size passenger vehicle category.
