Child hit and killed in Olifantsfontein

A child, believed to be aged between 6 and 9, was killed this morning when he was hit by a light motor vehicle on the R21 in Olifantsfontein in Johannesburg.

Paramedics from the ER24 Johannesburg Central branch arrived on scene and found the male child lying in the middle isle between the two roads.

On assessment, paramedics found that the child had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for the child and he was declared dead.

The driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately escaped without injury.

Paramedics were unable to identify the child as he had no form of identification, nor were paramedics able to contact the parents or guardian.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
