‘We are so Vein’ blood donor awareness campaign saves lives

102 Lives might have been saved after 34 people donated blood today at the ‘We are so Vein’ blood donor awareness campaign in Clearwater Mall.

On the 17th of June, ER24’s Blood Angels received body art in the form of veins and arteries sprayed over their bodies outlining the major vessels and blood flow. Eight Blood Angels represented the eight different blood groups.

The main focus of the Blood Angels were to walk through Clearwater Mall and educate members of the public on how an injury or medical condition can result in severe or sudden blood loss in different parts of the body. While doing so, they encouraged people to become blood donors.

The Blood Angels stopped people in their tracks and some grabbing at their cell phones to take pictures as this unique way of introducing blood donor awareness was introduced across the mall.

We are very pleased with the public’s reception of this campaign and interaction with the South African National Blood Service personnel.

This campaign was an initiative of ER24 in collaboration with Accident Angels, Clearwater Mall and the South African National Blood Service.

Emergency services see first hand how lives can be saved when a victim receives emergency blood.
