Three vehicle collision leaves one dead, 13 injured in Pinetown

A collision between a truck, taxi and light motor vehicle on the N3 Durban bound in Pinetown has left one man dead and 13 others injured this morning.

ER24 paramedics were alerted to the scene, and on their arrival, they found a taxi sitting in the centre medium between the two highways while a light motor vehicle sat in the oncoming lanes.

On assessment of the scene, paramedics found the lifeless body of the light motor vehicle driver lying 20 metres away from his vehicle. Unfortunately the man in his 20s had already succumbed to his multiple injuries when he was ejected from the vehicle when it rolled multiple times.

Thirteen other patients, with injuries ranging from minor to serious, were found on scene from both the taxi and light motor vehicle.

Paramedics set up a triage area and began treating the patients for their injuries. Once treated, all the patients were transported to various hospitals for further medical treatment.

The truck involved in the collision was apparently not found on scene.

Traffic was heavily affected in both directions due to the collision.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
