Three suspects from Bankarra, Kuruman will appear in the Kuruman Magistrates’ Court on 28 July 2015 on charges of armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
It is alleged that on 26 July 2015 at about 16:30, the complainant was walking with a friend in Bankarra when he was stopped by the three suspects who were driving a white VW Golf.
The men threatened the 28-year-old complainant with a firearm, knives and a panga while they robbed him of his cash and cell phone. The police were immediately alerted and the complainant took police to a house nearby as he recognized one of the suspects.
When the suspects saw the police, one attempted to run away, throwing a bag on the roof of one of the houses. The suspect was arrested and the bag retrieved. Police found two revolvers and ammunition inside the bag; pangas and more ammunition were confiscated from the house.
The three suspects, aged between 27 and 35, were arrested and the VW Golf was seized.
