A body of a male has been found this morning in a water canal next to the R53 outside Potchefstroom, Northwest Province.
ER24 paramedics were called to the scene by the SAPS, and on their arrival, they found the patient lying on the bank next to the SAPS vehicle.
Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had been dead for some time. Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patient.
It is understood that a member of public noticed the body floating in the canal. The body was pulled from the water by the SAPS prior to the arrival of paramedics.
The cause of the incident is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
