One man has been killed and four others injured this morning after an apparent shooting at a mall in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg.
ER24 paramedics, along with SAPS, received the emergency call and immediately responded to the scene.
On arrival, paramedics found numerous patients lying in the parking lot of the mall.
On assessment, paramedics found that one man had sustained fatal gunshot wounds in the incident. Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on scene.
Four other patients were found on scene with various gunshot wound, of them critically injured. Paramedics began their treatment of the patients and provided the critically injured patient with advanced life support.
Once treated, all the patients were transported to nearby facilities for further treated. Unfortunately, on route to hospital, the critically injured man succumbed to his injuries.
The cause of the shooting is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations as well as public safety.
