There has been a tragic crash on the N11, which has resulted in five fatalities

Two women, a man and two children have lost their lives in an accident on the N11 highway in Uthukela District, near Pepworth last night (KZN , South Africa). The car they were in is believed to have crashed onto a bridge before landing on the railway track electrical cables and catching alight. When emergency services arrived on scene the car was still burning and the fire had to be extinguished by the fire department.

Last night at around 1am Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services together with paramedics from several private ambulance services, the fire department and officers from the RTI and police department, responded to the crash.

Paramedics on scene say that at this stage the initial identification of the victims are, two adult woman estimated to be about 35 years old, a man estimated to be about the same age and two children, a boy of about seven years old and a girl about 10 years old.

Emergency services worked on the scene for several hours and only finished just before sunrise.

The cause of the crash is not known at this stage and will be investigated by the police.
