A 16-year-old boy is in a critical condition after his ATV collided with a bakkie on the R51 outside of Benoni.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene to find the bakkie and ATV on the side of the road. The ATV rider was found lying a few metres away from his vehicle.
On assessment, paramedics found that the boy had sustained a serious injury to his head and was in a critical condition.
Paramedics treated the patient and provided him with advanced life support interventions.
Once treated, the patient was airlifted by the ER24 Helicopter to Johannesburg General Hospital for urgent treatment.
Fortunately no-one from the bakkie was injured.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
