Woman rescued from pit toilet

A woman believed to have been trapped in a pit toilet in the Bankara area close to Kuruman was rescued this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics were notified about the incident earlier today.

Upon arrival they found the area surrounded by community members. The woman believed to be in her 20’s was lying on her side in the pit toilet.

Community members helped paramedics by bringing equipment that could help free the woman.

Walls around the toilet were broken and the woman was rescued.

Upon assessment of the patient it was found that she appeared to be confused and sustained minor injuries.

She was treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown. Members of the community explained to paramedics that the woman apparently could not be found since about 4am this morning. Paramedics were contacted for help this afternoon when a member of the community apparently found her in the toilet. Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
