A man, believed to be in his 20s, drowned this afternoon in a dam of a farm in Potchefstroom.
When ER24 paramedics, along with SAPS search and rescue, arrived at the farm on Mooibank Road, they were ushered to a nearby dam by farm workers.
On scene, paramedics found the lifeless body of the man lying in the dam. SAPS divers retrieved the body and brought him to the banks.
On assessment, paramedics found that the man had been underwater for some time. Unfortunately nothing could be done for the patient and he was declared dead.
The cause of the incident is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
