Two injured on Nsezi Road in KZN

This morning at around 08:20 a light motor vehicle and a delivery van collided with each other on Nsezi Road which links the Richards Bay CBD with the N2 highway on the Natal Coast.

Traffic flow was disrupted with one of the lanes being closed due to rescue efforts by emergency services on scene.

Netcare 911’s Rapid Extrication Unit came to the aid of the Richards Bay Fire department team who all worked closely together in order to extricate the critically injured man on scene.

With the aid of both Hydraulic Spreaders, Cutters and Rams the fire department was able to create enough space for the Netcare 911 rescue paramedic to gain access to a portion of the twisted wreck where a specialised Saw was used to cut away a piece of steel plate obscuring the last portion of the vehicle that needed to be moved.

The Man was finally extricated and stabilised on scene, he has been transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

The other person who sustained moderate injuries was treated on scene.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
