This afternoon Netcare 911 paramedics received a call for an industrial accident in Wolwe Hoek near Sasolburg. Reports from the scene indicate that an ‘I Beam’ weighing about 40 kilograms fell and hit the man on the head. Exact detail to the cause of the incident is still speculative and will remain a subject for investigation.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the man lying on the ground with life threatening injuries. After the medics placed the critically wounded man on a manual ventilator, they immobilised him on a trauma board and then airlifted him to a specialised facility in Gauteng for the care that he required.
