Man electrocuted to death, Pietermaritzburg

A man, believed to be in his mid 30s, was killed this morning after he was electrocuted by apparent illegally connected wires in the Jika Joe Informal settlement in Pietermaritzburg.

ER24 paramedics arrived at the settlement shortly before 09h00 this morning after two men that had been walking in the bushes spotted the body.

On inspection, paramedics found the patient lying in some tall grass near some exposed wires. The patient had sustained serious burn wounds over most of his body.

Paramedics assessed the patient and found that he had already succumb to his fatal wounds. Nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on scene.

Local authorities were on scene to disconnect the wires, as well as for further investigations.
