10 employees trapped in lift for over an hour

ER24 paramedics were contacted earlier this afternoon to attend to people who had been trapped in a lift at a building in Redruth, Alberton, for about 75 minutes.

It is understood that ten people, employees of a business in the building, had left a meeting that had ended and got into the lift to get back to their desks. They soon found that the lift was no longer moving.

Upon arrival at the scene shortly after they were contacted for assistance, paramedics found that technicians had successfully brought the lift back down and opened the doors.

Upon assessment by paramedics it was found that one woman suffered heat cramps and fatigue and was anxious. Another was sweating profusely, experienced dizziness and spoke of body pains.

Paramedics attended to the women and transported them to hospital for further care.

All other people who were also trapped in the lift were fine.
