Twenty school children have sustained injuries varying from moderate to minor after the taxi they were travelling in overturned on Mare street and corner Van Wyk street in Roodepoort.
Reports from the scene indicate that the taxi was transporting the children aged between seven and thirteen years old to school when it rolled.
The exact detail to the cause of the accident will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare911 paramedics worked alongside other emergency services to stabilise the school children on scene before transporting them to various hospitals in the area for further medical care.
The driver of the taxi also sustained moderate injuries, he was also treated and transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
The accident happened this morning at around 07h00.
