Student police constables make possession of rhino horn arrest in Madadeni

Madadeni police station’s newly appointed student constables under the command of Warrant Officer Ramuthar achieved great success on their first day out conducting crime prevention duties on Tuesday, 3 May 2016 at about 08:00.

The members conducted their stop and search duties at section 7, Madadeni when they saw suspicious-looking men carrying a bag.

When the suspects noticed that the police saw them, they made an attempt to flee from the police. The police followed them and conducted a search in the bag and the members were shocked to find two rhino horns inside. The two were immediately arrested and charged for possession of rhino horns. The suspects aged 24 and 33 years old were also linked to a stock theft case in Ladysmith area. They will appear in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court today, 5 May 2016.
