Shortly before 7pm on Friday night, Marshall Security were alerted to a house breaking in progress at a client’s house in Hillbrow Road, Umgeni Park.
Reaction officers were immediately dispatched and more information was received by our control centre that an unknown amount of armed suspects had forced entry into the home and shots had been fired.
More resources along with the assistance of SAPS Greenwood Park, were dispatched and on arrival it was found that a neighbour had been injured in the ordeal.
Upon further investigation it was ascertained that an unknown amount of armed suspects had forced entry into the home, stealing electronic equipment and amidst their getaway, the next door neighbour, a male approximately fifty years of age, came out to investigate the commotion. The suspects fired a shot at the man, striking him in his right leg. Netcare911 emergency care practitioners were called into assist and advanced life support care was needed to stabilize the man, before he was taken to a nearby hospital for further definitive care.
The scene was then handed over to the SAPS for further processing and investigation.
The suspects remain at large.
