Crime prevention patrols in Uitsig make arrests for illegal firearm possession

On Saturday, 18 July 2016 at about 21:50, members of Ravensmead SAPS were busy with crime prevention patrols in Uitsig area when they spotted a suspicious looking male person in Begonia Street Uitsig. The suspect was searched and found in possession of a 9 mm Petro Berretta pistol and one magazine with nine rounds. The 21-year-old suspect was arrested and detained for the possession of illegal firearm. He will appear in the Bishop Lavis Court today.

At approximately 03:00 this morning a shooting incident occurred at a fast food outlet in Ravensmead. The victim was wounded robbed of his belongings. Police followed up information and found the suspects with the victims cellular telephone and the firearm used in the crime at a house in the area.

Three suspects, aged between 20 and 28 years old, were arrested and charged with possession of stolen goods, attempted murder and possession of illegal firearm and ammunition and they are due in Bishop Lavis court tomorrow.
