A baby girl, believed to be two months old, was found dead this afternoon in her cot at a property in the Woodlands area in Pietermaritzburg.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 13h30 and were immediately ushered into one of the rooms.
On inspection, paramedics discovered the young patient lying in the cot motionless.
ER24 paramedics assessed the infant and found that she had been dead for some time. Unfortunately, nothing more could be done and she was declared dead on the scene.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
